Welcome! Welcome! honourable guests, visitors from the four winds - welcome to Pou-a-kai our family homestead.   I am Te Urutahi daughter of the ten tribes of Taranaki and I am joined by my family in welcoming you to our home located in the region of our sacred mountain Taranaki which is nestled in the embrace of the surrounding mountain ranges called Pou-a-kai.  We look forward to receiving you into our home for the duration of your stay.

Our home borders the Taranaki National Park and is located on 100 acres of pristine native rainforest, with a beautiful mountain stream lined with vegetation and volcanic rock.   Our family includes cats, dogs, chickens and a beautiful black "guard" swan called Logan.  We have an abundance of native birds that visit and often the wonderful trill of the kiwi can be heard at night when all is quiet.  You may even enjoy doing some kiwi spotlighting while you are with us. 

A smoking area has been designated outdoors and we ask that if you do smoke you utilise the disposal container provided.  Our listing is specifically for the casual visitor/s coming to New Plymouth. Couples are welcome for which an extra fee will be charged. Prices are negotiable for stays longer than 10 days if desired.
